Day by Day Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

    Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by a safari representative and driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, spend the remainder of the day relaxing and preparing for your upcoming adventure in this essential gateway city to northern Tanzania.

    Activities: Airport pickup, transfer to Arusha lodge, leisure time.

    Meals & Drinks: Meals at own expense; drinks not included.

    Accommodation: Arusha Planet Lodge (Mid-range lodge located in Arusha City).

  • Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

    After breakfast, depart Arusha with your safari guide for a scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Named after the Tarangire River that flows through its core, this park serves as the vital water source for wildlife during the dry season. Spend the day on game drives observing massive elephant herds, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and predators like lions and leopards, all set against a backdrop of ancient baobab trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before transferring to Karatu in the evening.

    Activities: Overland transfer to Tarangire, full-day game drive, picnic lunch, transfer to Karatu.

  • Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

    Following breakfast, drive into the cool Ngorongoro Conservation Area, pausing to take in views of the crater before continuing south into Serengeti National Park. Famous for its sweeping open grasslands and high wildlife density, the Serengeti offers exceptional animal viewing and hosts the annual Great Migration. Accommodations during your stay remain flexible to align with seasonal herd movements across the plains.

    Activities: Scenic drive through Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crater view stop, game drive en route into Central Serengeti.

  • Day 4: Full Day Serengeti Wildlife & Migration Safari

    Dedicate the full day to game drives exploring the vast savannahs of the Serengeti. Search for large concentrations of impalas, buffaloes, hippos, and crocodiles, alongside elusive big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Depending on the season and location of the Great Migration, venture across different sectors of the park to track the migratory herds.

    Activities: Full-day game drives in Serengeti National Park, bush picnic lunch.

    Accommodation: Land of Nature Camp (Mid-range tented camp located inside Central Serengeti NP).

  • Day 5: Flexible Serengeti Game Drives & Leisure

    Enjoy another full day exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti at a custom pace. Option to depart on early morning and late afternoon game drives when animals are most active, returning to camp during the middle of the day for lunch and relaxation, or set out for a full-day wildlife expedition across new terrain.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives (or full-day drive) in Serengeti National Park.

  • Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater & Karatu

    Catch your final Serengeti sunrise before enjoying breakfast and game viewing en route toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend down the steep 600-meter volcanic walls onto the crater floor, a unique ecosystem filled with open savannahs, acacia woodlands, and soda lakes home to over 500 bird species, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and endangered black rhinos. After a full afternoon inside the caldera, drive to Karatu for dinner.

    Activities: Morning game drive out of Serengeti, descent into Ngorongoro Crater, afternoon Big Five safari, transfer to Karatu.

    Accommodation: Eileen's Trees Inn (Mid-range lodge located in Karatu, 1–2 hours drive from Ngorongoro Crater).

  • Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha Departure

    Depart Karatu in the morning for Lake Manyara National Park, situated at the base of the steep Great Rift Valley Escarpment. Explore the park's dense groundwater forest to spot baboons and elephants before opening up to the shallow alkaline lake, home to thousands of flamingos and waterbirds. Keep watch for the area's famous tree-climbing lions. After a picnic lunch in the park, transfer back to Arusha, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
